Ice Cubes

Posted by Raven on 20th June 2006

“Today’s emphasis on feeling good reflects the fact that the individual self has become the central focus of social, moral and cultural life,” writes Furedi. “Feeling good” becomes an escape from civic virtue and the demands of community life, where hard work, sacrifice, altruism and commitment are antithetical to immediate gratification.

Words of wisdom. It’s too bad so many people are using the products of modern day convenience to achieve their happiness. People think they have to own every gadget and toy, they think they have to have all the appliances and cars to feel GOOD about their lives. I got into it once again with my friend, Tammy. She who has a walk in closet that is bigger than my apartment.

It all started over ice cubes.

Katie

Posted by Raven on 20th June 2006

Often the patients I take care of are young men, who made poor choices that led them to meet me…poor choices or the victims of others who made them. It’s not always like this though; some of my patients were born with deficits that require the services of my facility. Katie is such a patient. She is an inspiration and those who think ending the life of one with severe disability ought to come meet this beautiful young lady…

I don’t write about work too often here as it can be pretty sad to read about some of the patients I take care of. I decided a long time ago that people know the risks they place upon themselves when drinking and driving. Young people might KNOW the risk but they still don’t heed to it. Sometimes there are others who condone this activity with devastating results.

Work Marathon. Again.

Posted by Raven on 5th June 2006

Starting tomorrow my work schedule will go into overdrive. OK, that means overtime. Lots of it. I’m working five extra shifts every week through June and into the first part of July. Heh. I do this to myself every year of my life. Why the summer? Cause that’s when everyone wants time off from work and there are plenty of opportunities for extra time. Yee haw…that means an average of 72 hours a week for me. Obviously I won’t be here as much. Heather and Capt DMO will be though.

A quote that I might need to take to heart in the following weeks:

Nurses can take the pressure.

~Author Unknown

I can take the pressure. I might get a little nUtTy and abit cRaZy, but…I’m sure I’ll be doing some venting here.

And what’s in your closet??

Posted by Raven on 5th June 2006

Ahh the world of the closet lovers. We all must know at least ONE person who lives to fill their supersized, super organized, orgasm producing little spaces full of their STUFF. My friend Tammy has a closet of epic proportions. When she has guests over for the first time, she needs to give them a tour of this “space”– that she paid someone $18,000 (YES, eighteen THOUSAND)
dollars to “fix up”.

Pathetic.
