Appetizer
Describe a toy you remember from your childhood.

I’m not the proper title for this , but my Mom got me a Baby Alive (?) doll one time. It was made of soft plastic and it “cried” and “wet” itself. (Rolling my eyes). I HATED THE DAMN THING. I was a tomboy and my mother was forever trying to turn me into a PINK GIRL- one of those girly girls who wore pink fluffy dresses and played with ugly dolls and all.

I hated it so much I cut off all it’s hair and poked the eyes out. I stripped the clothes and cut them all up. I was MEAN to it…lol my poor Mom was beside herself. I would toss the doll into the pond across the road, and then drag it out and leave it on the lawn to “dry off”…eventually I recall hanging it on the apple tree in my yard and my Dad taking it down and throwing it away. I never got another doll after that.

Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how observant are you?

I’m very observant. I have an uncanny ability to see things most people don’t see. Some observations are subjective and others are objective. I tend to note the subjective more…and rarely has this failed me when I’m trying to figure something or someone out. When I’m working, I use clinical observation skills and this is vital to the health and well being of patients. These are learned skills.

Salad
Where would you rather be at this very moment?

At this beach. Provincetown MA…

Main Course
When was the last time you learned something new?

I attended a four day training seminar at the beginning of the summer: Hospice Care. I have done this for years, but at the recent training I learned some new methods and ways and means to care for dying people.

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I have ____________ but I haven’t ____________.

I have hiked the Presidential Traverse, but I haven’t hiked Mt. Everest. Some day I would like to do that!

Dress Blues? Nah. Wild Blues!

Posted by Raven on 26th July 2007

What does one do in Maine, on a hot sunny day in July or August? Besides going to the beach or sailing in the ocean, you can go blueberry picking. There are thousands of these fields up here…and the blueberries grow in abundance, uncultivated and wild-with no help from man. They are the best tasting berries- the wild ones.

And this morning, here’s what I did with some of the berries:

Appetizer
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how much do enjoy watching sports on television?

Unless it’s football, I say -10. Football? 10!!

Soup
If you could completely memorize any one work of fiction, which one would you pick?

I hate sappy-ass love stories and the like but for some reason I always liked the book The Thorn Birds.

Salad
What is your favorite breakfast food?

Bacon. Eggs.

Main Course
Name something fun you can do for less than $10.00.

Well…in my promise to keep this clean I can’t tell what the FUNNEST thing to do, for FREE, is. So I guess for here, something fun one can do for free might be playing with your kids. For real. I used to all the time and it’s very enlightening and entertaining and offers endless educational moments…for both kid and parent.

Dessert
How long does it usually take you to fall asleep?

Depends. LOL…when I’ve been working or off being very busy, takes me about 2 minutes to reach shut eyed bliss. Normally though I need a good 15 minutes to pass out.

Appetizer
What is your favorite fruit?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

APPLES. McIntosh are my favs…but I like other varieties as well. Apples can be eaten raw. Cooked. Baked. I love that one can slice em up, bake pies, cakes, sauces, crisps and toss them into fruit salads.

Soup
Who is someone you consider as a great role model?

Hm. I don’t have any. For real. No one inspires me enough or has inspired me enough to be called a role model, really. I DO have a lot of “reverse role models” though- those who I would NOT want to be like.

Salad
If you were to spend one night anywhere within an hour of your home, where would you choose?

An hour? Hmm this limits me a bit but I would say one of the small mountains to the west of me. Mt. Monadnock or Pack Monadnock.

Main Course
Name something you do too often.

Drink beeah. And coffee.

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I really like ___________ because ____________.

SUMMERS. I can just get up and go…no need to dress for weather; no need to clear off snow or ice…or get up early to do that.

8 Things Meme

Posted by Raven on 5th July 2007

Cotillion sister Linda tagged me with this meme…which is similar to others we have seen. I’ll do it because of Linda…and for those who I tag, do it for ME. Hehe…

The Rules are: Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog. < --More about this after the 8 things:::

#1 - I have been volunteering my free time in Maine to a Hospice organization. Helping people live out their limited days in comfort and peace. It's very fulfilling even with the sadness.

#2 - I’m going to Greece at the end of September. To Ithaka.

#3 - I restore furniture. Antiques and the like. Strip off years of paint and refurbish to original beauty.

#4 - I collect Americana Stuff: Flags, figurines, artwork, quilts, dolls (yes…porcelain), hand made craft fair items. Anything with the R W & B, Stars and Stripes, Uncle Sam…

#5 - I’ve decided to end my pursuit of being a Physical Therapist. Why? Because I LOVE NURSING too much. It’s my calling and I cannot just walk away from it.

#6 - I just bought this set. And these tables.

And this thing for the TV I never watch.

AND, the rug that my little feet will LOVE. Even though I restore furniture, I needed something new. I still have many antiques that really go well with this set.

#7 - The only pans I cook with are old…really old…I use my Grandmothers Griswold Cast Iron pans for almost all my cooking. I don’t have any of the newer sets w/the non stick surfaces- in fact I have never bought a set. I have fry pans, Dutch ovens, bread pans, casserole pans all made by Griswold that suit me perfectly. I cook everything with these pans too and use the skillets over the grille as well! I DO have a set of Revere Wear pans as well that my Mom gave me that she got in the 1950’s…along with those pyrex glass dishes.

#8 - I have gained 6 lbs in three weeks. My doctor is very happy; he asked me to gain 20 lbs. Dammit. I am considered to be a little underweight if one can believe that.

OK many of my blog friends are verrrry busy right now; I don’t feel right about blegging them to participate in this meme. SO I leave it open to whoever wishes to do so. If you read this and have the time, THEN DO IT- and let me know you’ve DONE IT.
