Posted by Raven on 9th April 2008

I had today off from work and was able to spend some time with the two most important guys in my life. They both mean so much to me and I can’t decide which one I love more- they’re so damn hawt the choice is very difficult.

Living Frugally Pays Off

Posted by Raven on 26th March 2008

Money, it’s a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I’ll buy me a football team.

I’ve written here many times about the materialistic society we live in, and how dependent so many people are on money to provide them their happiness. Cash can buy objects; cash can open up opportunities and make things happen. But it cannot buy love, real friends and above all, happiness. No amount of money will ever replace the important things in life, at least in my world.

When Life Happens-

Posted by Raven on 19th March 2008

***sigh***

I need to be off line indefinitely- there has been a (very sudden) family emergency which requires my full attention. I have no idea how long this might be but I know it will be at least a couple weeks. Until then shine on.

The Damn Z

Posted by Raven on 26th February 2008

Last summer my oldest daughter started looking for new vehicle…she had a car that was 7 years old and getting OLD to her…she wanted something different; she had just taken a job at Mass General Hospital and her income increased substantially- she could afford something better.

She asked her Dad to go with her on the search…after all HE knows a deal when it’s there..and HE can make a good deal better. It’s usually true- men know how to talk their way into sweet options and financing issues. My daughter just adores her father and she’s always trusted his judgment on these things.

Teh Pussy’s Purse

Posted by Raven on 20th February 2008

We have four cats. They’ve been part of the family for years and are much loved. And spoiled of course.

Cats have odd quirks, any cat owner will attest to. Ours are no different. One of them has **issues** with shoes- she HATES them. She will go into attack mode when she sees a pair, or even one shoe, slipper, sandal, clog.

They KNEW they knew each other

Posted by Raven on 11th February 2008

One reason I hate nursing homes is the lack of activities. Sure, there’s bingo and sing a longs. For those who are mentally capable of participating. There might be some puzzles and painting and the better homes offer up an outing every week or two. But it just doesn’t come close to the level of living our elderly people once enjoyed. People who reside in nursing homes are often depressed, lonely and BORED. For better or worse, this is the accepted trade off for their safety.

When she came to live with me, I made a promise to Marion: That she would once again get out into her world, and live her life as best she can…of course, Marion is demented and didn’t understand nor remember this vow…but I did and STILL DO.

Grand Canyon was pretty

Posted by Raven on 5th February 2008

I took a lot of pictures of AZ when I was down there. I JUST HATED IT. The place SUUCKED big time; I couldn’t breathe, the air was so dry and gross; I had toooo many nosebleeds cause of that. The air was also dirty or something. I actually coughed up SAND!!! Never in my life have I felt so unhealthy. LOL, but I did like the Canyon the ONE day I decided I felt good enough to go…
