I just bought a house. The river is located on my property and this is the view from my back yard. And the little bush is on the wooden fence in the yard too.

Make sure that it’s not poison ivy on that fence!
The top photo is gorgeous. What a sight!

Are the leaves early in turning up your way? Seems that way to me. Is that the something unusual to which you referred in your posting?

  2. Raven Says:

Yes..that is what I’m calling ODD.

I don’t recall the leaves turning over THIS early…It’s August 14th!! Summer still has some time to it…I HOPE!!

The view is cool huh?? So are the bugs though:roll:

ITS GLOBAL WARMING!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!! ICEBERG.. DEAD AHEAD!!

Who knows why they are changing a little early? Somewhat odd considering it is indeed still summer.. perhaps… but I doubt it is unprecedented..

  4. Raven Says:

LOL but it is Global Warming…right? The cooler temps and all…at night…bring autumn upon us. BWAHAHAH!!

Actually some friends have reminded me, via other pictures from yrs past that this is not abnormal. I just don’t pay attention until September when I THINK FALL. August is still SUMMER no matter what in my mind.

That is Poison Ivy you’re looking at on the fence. It’s beautiful, but it’s going to make you itch.

And yep, that’s a beaut of a view.

  7. Raven Says:

d you need to get a modern browser. Why don’t you get Firefox???

  8. Raven Says:

No that is not poison ivy. PI doesn’t grow upward and turn into vines…

It’s the beginnings of a birch tree. The yard has dozens of them growing- and they were all planted by a previous owner. There is poison ivy in the woods near the house though…low growing, nasty little plants. I’m not allergic to it thankfully.

“Technically there is the climbing variety (toxicodendron radicans) and the nonclimbing (toxicodendron rydbergii)”

Classic poison ivy in full swing. Some leaves are notched. Some leaves are not.

When you cut down a tree for firewood you can get a good case of poison ivy from the vine stuck to the tree - even in winter.

You’re wrong. I KNOW what’s in my yard. Bozo. I live in NH fercryinoutloud. I KNOW MY TREES and POISON IVY.
I live in the wilderness. I know every plant and tree up here. I went to school and learned a lot about this stuff. AND all my friends have touched that bush, rolled in it and not a one has broken out in a rash, or has an itch…just to prove you wrong. BOZO.

To quote Dr. Garrett Crow from UNH: “Nice photo of poison ivy (Toxicodendron radicans).”

    That would be your photo.
