Snow?? What's THAT?? LOL they get a lot of in upper NY and esp around Buffalo and the lakes...feets at a time. Hehe...and the Catskills offer lots of great skiing and other winter sports. Vermont (ick) also has some decent ski mountains as well and it's not far from Albany...Lake Champlain is a little expensive but really nice.

Jeep? Yes and I love it...good on gas and very rugged, which is required up these parts. 4 WD too- don't settle for anything else. AWD doesn't cut it around these parts.

I am an EMT in NH and Maine- just got certified for Maine actually.

We'll definitely have to travel and come visit ya! The little one will be almost one, but Fin will be almost 4, so she'll talk your ear off..

The cost of living is higher than Texas, but I am hoping to still be able to buy a somewhat comparable house up there. Lake Champlain looks really nice. And I'll be able to go skiing whenever I want. The wife is worried about all of the snow. I told it isn't so bad once you go numb. Just watch out for the frost bite. I am going to have to get a new vehicle though. I am thinking about a Jeep. Get the big off-road tires for the winters and spring to deal with the snow/mud, and then switch to the more fuel efficient tires for the drier times. You got a jeep right? Like it?

Once I get done with all of my training and get settled in my job, I am thinking about pursuing training as an EMT. In my line of work as in law enforcement, I think that training might come in handy sometime. I have my GI Bill I have to use within 10 years of getting out, perhaps working towards a paramedic might be a goal I could achieve. Beats getting some stuffy masters degree that I can hang on a wall and do absolutely nothing with... Now, I know I won't be as cool as a nurse.....

OH!! Yes you did and I meant to email you about that! And totally forgot. I so bad. And so sorry.

It's not too bad in upstate NY- much less busy than NYC for sure. I think the cost of living is probably higher too...AND you'll only be like 4 hours from ME!! So maybe we can get together so I can meet your daughters and wife?? YAY!!!

I LOVE New England...and NY state is almost the same, really. No ocean though- BUT the shores on the lakes are awesome. I lived in Albany, East Greenbush for a year and there were plenty of things to do, places to go, shopping, schools, ect ect.
